Situation: As a result, Sam started to work as a part-timer. However, it might have changed his way of life.
Ken: So, what happened after you failed your employment interviews?
Sam: I had nothing to do after graduation, so I stayed home being idle. But then, my parents told me to at least do part-time job. So I started moonlighting in a small factory run by my mother’s brother, in other words, my uncle.
Ken: What kind of a factory was it?
Sam: Screws, the kind you put into a hole and rotate to secure something.
Ken: And what kind of work did you do?
Sam: Everything. From an assistant for the skilled workers to inventory management in the warehouse, deliveries, taking care of the odd jobs.
Without any skills, I was rotated around the departments.
Ken: Didn’t you get fed up?
Sam: I didn’t like it in the beginning, but came to think of it now, I was very lucky.
Ken: What do you mean?
Sam: For example, if I had accounting skills, I would have been trapped in working in accounting all the time. But without any skills, I was sent to various departments and got to see the full picture of the company while still very young.
Ken: Great! You’re a positive thinker!
Sam: Of course! I didn’t think so at the time. But it could be that it was my uncle’s intention to make me work in various departments from the start.

場面： 仕方なく、アルバイトとして働き始めたSam.最初は、乗り気じゃなかったSamだったけど、、、
Ken 「それで就職試験で全滅して、どうしたんですか？」
Sam 「卒業してから半年くらいは家でプラプラしていたよ。でも、しばらくして親からアルバイトくらいしなさい。と言われて、母親の弟、つまり叔父さんの経営する町工場でバイトすることになったんだ」
Ken 「何を作る工場ですか？」
Sam 「ネジだよ。穴に差し込んで、くるくるまわして何かを固定したりするアレ」
Ken 「へぇ。どんな仕事をしていたんですか？」
Sam 「なんでもやったよ。職人のアシスタントや倉庫での在庫管理や配達… つまりは雑用。何のスキルもないから、いろんな部署をたらい回しにされてた」
Ken 「嫌になりませんでしたか？」
Sam 「最初は嫌だった。でも、今はそれがすごいラッキーなことだったと思ってる」
Ken 「どういうこと？」
Sam 「たとえば僕に経理のスキルがあったら、経理の仕事をずっとさせられていたと思う。でも、僕に何のスキルもなかったから、いろんな部署に行かされて、若いうちから会社の全体を見ることができたんだ」
Ken 「すごい！ 前向きですね！」
Sam 「もちろん当時はそんなふうには思ってなかったよ。たぶん、叔父は最初からそれを意図して、僕をいろんな部署で働かせていたのかもしれないね」
