Ken: A sophomore enrolled in a university in Tokyo. Although he was admitted to the
university through AO admission(flexible entrance examination of Universities in
Japan), he can’t concentrate in his studies, or extra-curricular activities or part-time
jobs. Keeps on mouthing “There’s no job for humanities students without any skills”.

Sam: A nomad type business person who spends long time staying at high class resorts
in Asia. He speaks English like a native, but he’s Japanese and his real name is Osamu.
Sam…アジアの高級リゾート地で長期滞在しながら働く「ノマド」的ビジネスマン。ネイティブ並みの英語を話すが、実は日本人で本名オサム。

Story outline
The story takes place in an English conversation café in Tokyo. Ken has been told by his
mother to meet an acquaintance of her, Sam. Sam is a kind of a nomad worker who makes
use of his English and IT skills and works out of high-class resort pool-sides with a PC along
side. He can be anywhere for work or living, not restricted by time like a normal white collared
worker, not short of money and lives the way he wants at any location he likes.
To Ken, Sam looks like a very successful person, but originally, he was a humanities student in
a third rated university without any skills.He only started to learn English by some accident.
Once English was mastered, he was able to get various information about favorable employment
and profitable investments opponunities. As a result, he has attained to live like he
does today.How did Sam master English and succeed? Ken meets Sam every day at this café
and tries to find out his secret.
あらすじ
舞台は都内の英会話カフェ。Ken は母親から知り合いの Sam と待ち合わせするように言われる。Sam は英語と IT を駆使し、高級リゾートのプールサイドで PC を片手に仕事する、いわばノマドワーカー。仕事や生活をする「場所」にも縛られず、サラリーマンのように「時間」に拘束されることもなく、「お金」にも困っておらず、好きなときに好きな場所で好きなことだけをして暮らしているという。Ken からすれば成功者に見える Sam だが、もともとは三流大学の文系学生でなんのスキルもなかったという。それがひょんなことから英語を学ぶことになり、英語を身に着けた途端にさまざまな情報を取りに行けるようになって有利な就職も有利な投資もできるようになったとのこと。その結果、今のような暮らしがある、と。Sam がいかにして英語を身に着け、成功していったのか、Ken は毎日このカフェで Sam に会い、その秘密を聞くことにする。
