Situation: Sam is telling Ken about Food Shows in the café they were yesterday.
Ken: Sam, I had a hard time trying to sleep last night wanting to know what happened next.
Sam: Sorry for cutting it short yesterday, so, where were we?
Ken: We were here, in this café.
Sam: No, that’s not what I meant. I mean to say, until where did we stop our conversation yesterday? It’s an often used phrase.
Ken: Is that so? Well, you mentioned being a project manager.
Sam: OK, so that’s where we were. My job was to find customers overseas, but I had no idea on where to start.
Ken: So, what did you do?
Sam: I remembered going to a “Food Show” where I have been. When I was a student. I worked at a restaurant for about 3 months and the owner took me there. He told me “you can try sample food as much as you want”.
Ken: A Food Show? What’s that?
Sam: It’s where the food manufacturers show their goods, and people from restaurants and hotels go there to find new food and ingredients. You can try them, listen to details and discuss if you’re interested.
Ken: Right! So it’s the perfect place to find customers.
Sam: That’s right. So I thought there must be some shows like this overseas.
Ken: But how did you find them?
Sam: I looked it up in the Internet. It wasn’t very difficult to find. I found that a Manufacturing Show was taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 5 months later.

Ken 「Samさん、こんにちは。昨日は続きが気になって眠れませんでしたよ！ さっそく続きを聞かせてくださいよ！」
Sam 「やぁ、Ken。昨日は話を中断しちゃってごめん。さっそく話をするよ。Where were we?」
Ken 「ん？ このカフェにいましたけど？」
Sam 「そうじゃなくて。どこまで話をしたっけ、というときにこのフレーズはよく使うよ」
Ken 「あ、そうなんですね。ええと、Samさんがプロジェクトのリーダーになったというのを聞きました。」
Sam 「ああ、そこからね。僕の仕事は海外にお客さんを見つけること。でも、どこから手をつけていいのか見当もつかなかった。」
Ken 「それでどうしたんですか？」
Sam 「そのとき、学生のときに3か月だけバイトしていたレストランのオーナーが『フードショー』に連れて行ってくれたことがあったのをふと思い出した。『いっぱい試食できるから行くか？』って言われて。」
Ken 「フードショー？ なんですか、それ。」
Sam 「食品メーカーが出展してて、そこには飲食店やホテルの人が新しい食材を探しに来る。試食したり、説明を聞いたりして、気になる食材があれば商談していた。」
Ken 「なるほどー！ お客さんを探すのにピッタリの場所ですね！」
Sam 「そうなんだ。これと同様の展示会が海外にもあるはずだ！と思ったんだ。」
Ken 「でも、それをどうやって探したんですか？」
Sam 「インターネットで検索したら、わりと簡単に出てきたよ。5か月後にマレーシアのクアラルンプールで『マニファクチャリングショー』が開催されることがわかったんだ。」
